About Me

Travis SnapshotMy name is Travis Maynard. It's been 22 years since I was born. When I'm not typing online portfolio introductions, I enjoy web design and video production. During my free time, I'm usually playing video games, reading, or watching a movie.

Originally, I had planned to become a film maker. I did my best to focus on that, but as I grew older I gained interest in web design and the internet. Soon after, I shared a love for both the web and video. Luckily, I found that they complimented each other very well. Now I use those skills to create, inform, and entertain to the best of my ability.

Educational Background

I spent the first 12 years of my life in Huntington, WV where I attended elementary school. Soon after, I moved to Chapmanville, WV in order to be closer to my grandmother as she aged while I finished out middle school and high school there.

After high school, I promptly attended Fairmont State University pursuing a Graphics Technology degree. As of May 2009, I will have aquired both my A.S. and B.S. in Graphics Technology. Not only have I excelled in my classes I have also been listed on the FSU Dean's List as well as the President's List multiple times.

My Tools

I have over 4 years experience in graphic design, web design, and video production. I spend most of my time with the following web languages and applications (Hover over icons to for more info):

My Work

The following information contains projects that I have worked on. Hover over thumbnails for more info & links.

The Forger

Experimental Short Film

The Forger is an experimental cross between a music video and drama film. There is no dialogue, so the story is told entirely by images and the emotional progression of the music. Instead of telling a full-fledged story, The Forger places you in the middle of a situation between two lovers and allows you to fill in the blanks.

Originally shot over a few weeks in late 2004 to 2005, wasn't fully completed until 2007.

Brachrista Studio

Website Re-design

Brachrista Studio is a photography studio located in Fairmont, WV. They hired me to clean up their initial design and create something moody and more colorful. We both felt that an entire re-design was required to accomplish this.

Using the Joomla CMS, I created a very simple and visually pleasing website with a wonderful engine to simplify the updating process.

Freedom Institute

Website Design/Identity Creation

The Freedom Institute is a non-profit political organization created to help educate and empower the people of the United States. I designed their online identity as well as some print materials they requested.

Note: I am in no way affiliated with Freedom Institute and in no way share the views and beliefs of their company.

LYFE

Un-Sliced Website Design/Personal Project

This website design was created for a string of websites intended to be used as an Alternate Reality Game (ARG).

When complete, an entire story will be told through the use of several websites like this one and the articles and media that live within them.

Too Many

Un-Sliced Website Design/Personal Project

This website design was made to focus on the organization and management of a lot of information at once.

The showcase window will allow me to put plenty of emphasis on important items while not completely overshadowing the other content.

Re-Elect G.H. Budd Sapp

Website Design/Political Promotion

The official re-election website for educator G.H. Budd Sapp.

A very quick and simple online presence that efficiently lists his educational history and other important information.

Touching is Good

Commercial Short/Contest Entry

An old short I shot in high school with no money and little time. It was made for Nintendo's Touching is Good contest, where each contestant was sent a manequin hand to include in a small commercial to promote the Nintendo DS.

The entire short was filmed on a mount of dirt about 3 feet high. Special thanks to Matt Milne who put together the music at the last minute.

Tally Hall Shirt Design

T-Shirt Mock-Up/Personal Project

A quick mock-up of a design I had in mind for a t-shirt. I'm a huge fan of Tally Hall so I thought I could put some time into a t-shirt design for them.
